Price Hill Neighborhood Watch Site (Last Update 7-22-2008)

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to make you all aware that I just seen someone steal copper off a two central air units outside 9** Sunset Ave. This guy tried to make me believe that he was doing work for the guy who bought the house. He said " I have to take this out before we can put a new one back in." At first I gave him the benefit of a doubt, because l did have a bunch of people that had been working on the house, but then I'd remembered that those units were relatively new and so then I didn't believe him and went in to get my phone to call the police. He pulled the wire right out of the house and kept pulling. He grabbed about 5 long sticks of copper and ran to his car that he had parked on Sunset around the block and drove backwards all the way down to West 8th St.

He was a white guy about 5'7 and between 19 to 25 years. He wore a orange painters cap backwards, has short blonde hair about ears length and on his neck. He has broken and rotten front teeth. He wore a white tank top and orange bermuda shorts and white gym shoes.

He drove off in a RED Ford Explorer with temporary tags.

This was in broad daylight (11:30) with my dogs even barking at him (which alerted me) didn't faze him. When he saw that I had seen him, didn't scare him off either. I think he knew I didn't believe him so he worked fast and ran. I did call the police and gave them the description. I don't have this neighbors phone number , so I couldn't call him to let him know what was going on to his house.

Something really needs to be done to regulate this copper obsession. It is costing our homeowners more money to repair the damage these thieves create, than the thieves are getting for the copper. I'm sure someone has the power to change this......evil prevails when good people do nothing.........

2ND WITNESS NOTES:

I saw something about that same time today; I was sitting in my office working
when I noticed an older red colored Ford Explorer with temporary plates going
backward onto St Wm from Sunset, literally flying down the street into the
intersection at Rosemont without stopping and then down Rosemont toward W8th.
Should have been about the same time of day - think it could have been the same
person? I didn't see the driver but there was another person in the vehicle.
They were gone before I could have gotten a plate number. But it definitely was
an older model Ford Explorer - Red with temporary tags.

Daytime Burglaries

We have been able to identify a suspect in at least one of our day-time burglaries. We had a day-time burglary in Miami Trails on 7/17/08 at around 1100 hours. The suspect stole a credit card from the residence and proceeded to the Marathon on BHGP @ Loveland-Maderia Road. The vehicle was a bright red Ford Mustang with a black convertible top. The Mustang was the newest body style probably a 2007 or 2008. The vehicle was driven by a white female, medium build, with long dark hair (hair hung to the middle of her back). The female had a tattoo on her right shoulder/bicep and she was wearing a white tank top, shorts, and flip-flops. The clerk advised there was a male sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle. We also have a statement from a neighbor advising she saw the suspect vehicle in a driveway behind the victim�s home. I will get pictures from the video out as soon as I can (were having software issues with the DVD). Please BOLO for this vehicle and find a reason for a stop and get a good FIR. We have four open day-time burglaries in Miami and neighboring jurisdictions have numerous open cases to. Any questions, please let me know. You guys have been great finding us suspects in recent crimes, please find me another person to start with.
